MASON, Mich. — Fire crews battled a house fire in Mason Saturday afternoon.
Flames were bursting out of the windows when crews arrived to the house on Stephens Street just after 2 p.m.
A mattress caught fire in a bedroom in the back of the house, the Mason Fire Department said. The four people inside when the fire started got out safely.
Crews were able to put out the fire, but the back of the house suffered a lot of damage.
The Red Cross is helping the displaced family. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
