What is wind chill?

WSYM — Bitter cold temperatures feel cold enough, but factor in the wind and it makes it feel even colder.

But what is the wind chill and how is it calculated?

The wind chill is, in short, what it feels like outside when you factor in both the air temperature and the wind speed.

It's an apparent temperature on the human body.

The human body is working and therefore producing heat, and this heat surrounds the body.

But when the wind is blowing, it pushes that bubble of heat around our bodies away.

The stronger the wind, the faster our body is exposed to the cold and therefore the colder it feels.
