It's an unsolved Christmas Day murder that continues to haunt the family of a young man from Detroit four years later. The father of Christina Samuel spoke exclusively with 7 Action News about his loss and the desperate need to catch his daughter's killer.
For Christopher Samuel, the Christmas holiday hasn't felt like a time for celebration in four long years. It was the morning of Dec. 25, 2014 when his beloved Christina, a recent college graduate, was gunned down while sitting and taking with a friend in her mother's car.
Trips to Christina's gravesite are one of the ways her father still finds to visit and talk with her since her death. Christopher has also lost Christina's mother and grandmother from what he calls a broken heart.
Despite the time that passes, homicide detectives aren't giving up. In fact, they've gone back to the beginning.
Along Carlyle Street, they've determined the crime was committed by two men, one armed with an assault rifle, the other with a handgun. They say it's likely Christina was not the target, but rather the man she was with who survived the shooting.
