The Detroit Tigers were in town on Thursday to help celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Lansing Police Department.

It's just one stop on the Winter Caravan tour, which is all about spreading baseball fever to fans of all ages.

The Tigers presented Lansing police with a framed Tigers jersey. It has the No. 125 on the back.

Second-year manager Ron Gardenhire was at the police station with some Tigers before they headed to Grand Rapids.

Gardenhire's first team last year finished 64-98 but the manager told the assembled audience he won't have any trouble motivating his team this season despite limited expectations once again.

"This is what they've loved to do all their lives and this is where they want to be and I don't need to motivate them. If you heard last season how they were in our clubhouse before every game, they were excited and ready to play and getting ready for a big day on the diamond, that's all they were talkin' about," he said.
