FOX 47 has new information in the case of a woman facing life in prison for a brutal murder of a Jackson man several years ago.
Tiffany Reichard is charged with open murder in the death of Matthew Cramton.
Last month, The state court of appeals determined Reichard could not use "duress" as her defense in the trial.
But court records show she's seeking to have that plea defense heard by the Michigan Supreme Court.
In the appeal -- Reichard claimed Michael Beatty pressured or coerced her into killing Cramton.
Beatty is serving life in prison without the possibility of parole after admitting he killed Cramtom.
Cramton was found stabbed to death in his home on West Coler Street in Summit Township in January 2009.
Police said he was tied up and stabbed several times during a robbery. Beatty told police Reichard was in on Cramtom's murder.
Reichard is currently lodged in the Jackson County jail awaiting trial.
Court records show a response on whether the state's highest court will accept a hearing is expected by the end of May.
