JACKSON, Mich. — Consumers Energy is asking customers to reduce their gas usage because of a fire Wednesday morning at a gas compressor station in Macomb County.

Since less gas is available, the utility is asking people to set their heat at 65 degrees, and 62 degrees when they're not home.

The utility is urging customers to shut and seal windows and doors and close them tightly, while checking for cold air leaks.

Consumers Energy is also asking businesses to reduce their gas usage.
