CLINTON COUNTY, Mich. — Ryan Zandstra was sentenced on Wednesday for the accidental death of Tyler Jelinek.
He was convicted of a misdemeanor and sentenced to a year in jail with 2 years probation, along with some community service.
32-year-old Zandstra was found guilty of a moving violation causing death in the August 2018 crash that killed Tyler Jelinek.
The crash happened on Aug. 20 [wilx.com] in the eastbound lanes of I-96 east of Wright Rd. in Eagle Township.
The Clinton County Sheriff's Office says Zandstra's truck was not able to stop for slowing traffic in an upcoming construction zone.
His truck hit Jelinek's vehicle, pushing Jelink's vehicle into a third vehicle. Jelinek was pronounced dead at the scene. Other people involved in the crash suffered non-life threatening injuries.
