CHARLOTTE, Mich. — UPDATE: On January 11 there was a shooting in the City of Charlotte that involved a Charlotte Police Officer.

It happened around 4:15 p.m. on January 11, when Eaton County 911 received a phone call about a "disturbance" at the 100 block of 4th street in Charlotte.

The disturbance was a dispute involving two family members, a mother and a daughter, according to a witness. The witness said they saw the daughter beating up her mother on the front lawn, and that the mother was screaming and begging for someone to call 9-1-1.

"They've had some domestic problems before, the mother and the daughter, and she had gotten out of jail that morning," said the witness who wanted to remain anonymous.

The witness told FOX 47 that he saw the daughter go after police with a rock, then go into the home and shoot a gun.

The witness added that when the 25-year-old came out of the house hours later that she pulled a gun from a coat pocket, and that's when police fired on her.

Michigan State Police, Charlotte Police and Eaton County deputies were on the scene, as well as the Lansing Police Forensic team.

After police were on the scene, Eaton County 911 was notified shots had been fired by officers.

Michigan State Police Lt. Darren Green has confirmed that a suspect at the scene, a 25-year-old woman was first taken to the hospital in Charlotte, but later transported to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing by helicopter. She was in serious condition, but as of Monday afternoon, her condition has been upgraded to stable.

There are now two current investigations, the original domestic disturbance call and the officer-involved shooting.

A gun was recovered at the scene.

Lt. Green says that he anticipates criminal charges will be brought up in the domestic disturbance case.
