LANSING, Mich. — Lansing Police reported on Tuesday morning that a suspect was located in South Lansing on Monday evening for the murder of 19-year-old Hanna Barron.
Aaron Montreal Anthony Ross, 20, of Lansing, was arraigned in 56-A District Court.
He went in front of Judge O'Neill on the following charges:
Count 1: Homicide – Open Murder
Count 2: Weapons Offense - CCW
Count 3: Felony Firearm
Count 4: Assault with intent to murder
He will be held without bail.
The family of Barron spoke out for the first time on Monday with FOX 47's Cryss Walker.
Her family described her as a wild-flower who danced to her own beat.
“She was a great mother. The two kids were her life”, said Hanna’s father Michael Barron.
The 19-year-old was one month away from her birthday, looking forward to graduating from Life Tech and enjoying her new car.
“When she got her car, she was just all bubbly,” said her step-father James Sharp.
“She was so proud of it and then to see it on the news like that is enough to just tear us a part.”
For now, her family is holding on to one another, wiping tears in her memory and trying to find a way to heal from their tragic loss.
“Everyone still has so many questions that we haven't gotten answered yet. I pray that all questions will be answered”, said Chayse Scruggs, who shared a daughter with the late mother of two.
A candlelight vigil will be held for on the 3900 block of Burneway Drive in Lansing on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
Ross is being held in the Eaton County jail. His preliminary exam is set for 1/28 and a prelim hearing is scheduled on 1/31.
The family has also setup a GoFundMe page.
