UPDATE: Police use robot and determine no one was in the home

Lansing Police have confirmed to us that the standoff on Stillwell Avenue is over after lasting for hours.

At around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, gunshots were heard near the home on Stillwell Avenue in Lansing where police had been surrounding a home. Police wouldn't say where the shots came from.

Police told FOX 47 that a someone who was renting the house, came home and saw the door kicked open and a man standing inside with an alleged gun.

The renter ran away and called police.

Police showed up and surrounded the home. They made announcements for anyone to come outside of the house with their hands up. Police say it is unknown whether the intruder was still inside.

They are reporting that there was a slight delay from the call and when they arrived. And they say that there wasn't any verbal or visual contact with anyone inside.

Michigan State Police arrived on the scene and brought in a robot which was sent into the house but it did not locate anyone.
