A Town Hall is being held Monday night to discuss Michigan's budget.
State Rep. Tom Cochran (D-Mason) is hosting.
“While the budget might seem like a confusing or even tedious process, in truth, our state’s budget is a declaration of our government’s priorities,” Rep. Cochran said. “Michigan roads continue to crumble, and local schools continue to fall behind schools in other states, while companies that are already profitable continue to get handouts, which means that the wishes of wealthy corporations and CEOs have been placed above the needs of working families and small businesses. A government that listens to its people will prioritize their concerns, and its budget will reflect that.”
Other speakers will include Michigan State University economics professor Charles Ballard and Rachel Richards, the legislative coordinator for the Michigan League for Public Policy.
The public is free to attend.
The Town Hall takes place from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at the Mason Historical Museum on 200 E. Oak St. in Mason.
