A brutal fight outside a Jackson party store left three people in the hospital after they were hit in the head with a hammer. It was all caught on camera.
Jackson Police say five people involved in the fight, two attackers and three victims. Police were called around 9:45 pm to the Greenwood Party Store on the corner of Biddle and Greenwood. Once they arrived on the scene they learned the three victims had been hit in the head with a hammer.
Police say the fight actually started at a nearby house. One of the men showed up and started a fight over an ex-girlfriend. Police say the three victims left the home and walked to the party store.
On the security footage from the store, you can see the alleged attackers walking into the store looking for the victims. As the victims head out of the store, the attackers then turn around and follow them outside. That's when you see them surround the victims and shove one. When one victim tries to head back into the store another attacker repeatedly hits him on the head.
"Two of them had lacerations on the back of the head. Would be consistent being struck with some blunt object or a hammer," said Jackson County Police Director, Elmer Hitt.
Then a third person is attacked. You can see on tape, one of the attackers puts what appears to be a hammer back into his pocket. All three victims were sent to the hospital, two with head lacerations and one with cuts on their forehead.
Police say they will complete their investigation and then hand it over to the prosecutors office.
"In this type of case we will most likely wait for the prosecutor to review it and issue charges if they chose to and at that time we would look at apprehending those responsible," said Hitt.
All five people involved in the fight were between 20 and 30 years old.
The victims are out of the hospital tonight. Their names have not been released. Police tell FOX 47 News they know who the attackers are but they have not made any arrests yet.
We will report when they're in custody.
