LANSING, Mich. — William Strampel was accused of asking favor for favor with MSU medical students.
That's the testimony from one of those students, who said the former dean had all of the power.
Most of the testimony on Thursday focused on allegations that Strampel repeatedly made sexually-charged comments to female students as they requested permission to retake failed tests, or asked for help with other academic issues.
"i was just blindsided...I didn't expect it to go in that direction," said Leah Jackson, a student at Michigan State's College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Jackson, went to Strample to appeal her score on a practice exam that would help her move on in medical school.
She says the appeal was denied within five minutes, but the discussion went on for about an hour.
"He was controlling the conversation...talking about whatever he wanted to discuss."
He told her that he had "buddies," or acquaintances that had relations with women in their 20s and 30s.
"And then he said, 'all a 26 year old has to do is put out for 20 minutes, then the old man falls asleep, and the she gets whatever they arranged for,'" said Jackson.
Jackson says that he then began talking about nude photos, and how it used to be easier to send them.
She said he told her if he saw any photos of her naked, she'd be in trouble.
"I thought that he was asking for a picture, the first attempt didn't work, so he was trying a different method...Kind of a favor for a favor."
Jackson eventually told her parents what happened...After her father said he was concerned about her behavior. He took the stand Thursday as well.
"She's happy and she's bright, she lights up a room when she walks in...and I felt like...she seemed like she was in a coma," he said.
She met with Strampel a second time, but said she was too scared to go alone.
So she brought her dad.
On the stand she said she felt ridiculous bringing him, but that she felt like she had no other choice.
