LANSING, Mich. — City of Jackson Police officers responded to reports of shots being fired outside of the Jackson County fairgrounds on Wednesday night.

Elmer Hitt, director of police and fire services for Jackson, said the incident happened around 10:08 p.m.

Hitt said city officers were near the area for an unrelated call and they heard four or five gunshots and responded.

Hitt said officers went to a parking lot near the intersection of Ganson and Jackson Street where witnesses say multiple subjects were there and they heard gunshots.

Police investigated and made an arrest of a 19-year-old male who had a handgun on his person. He's to be charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

Police don't know if the 19-year-old man was the one who did the shooting as the incident is still under investigation.

No one was hurt in the shooting.
