LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mich. — Low visibility, road conditions, and speed appear to be contributing factors in a large pileup that closed part of westbound I-96 in Livingston County, Michigan State Police said Tuesday.
MSP said an initial crash was reported on around 7:30 p.m. near Kensington Road and involved about 30 vehicles.
As traffic was backing up from the initial crash, another six crashes occurred with 2-3 vehicles in each.
Six people were transported to a hospital with minor injuries, state police said.
The crash closed westbound I-96 between Kensington and Pleasant Valley for almost three hours.
MSP said the interstate reopened around 10 p.m. Tuesday.
