Democratic Senator Gary Peters made a stop in Lansing Wednesday to announce new legislation he hopes will help small businesses compete and win federal contracts without draining resources.
The Senator says so many Michigan small businesses provide the government with goods and services, and his bill would protect them from scammers and help them grow.
"There are goals that we set with the federal government to award the small businesses but we need to try to make it as easy as possible for them."
Senator Peters also toured Messagemakers in Lansing's Old Town. He learned how the company uses small business assistance programs to expand its services and widen its reach.
