Secretary of State Ruth Johnson has announced her office is implementing a new and faster computer system to process records.
The "Cars" project will combine millions of driver and vehicle records into one system.
It updates in real time, making it easier for the state to process records and for customers to get what they need online or through self-serve kiosks.
The system will be implemented over the next five years.
