Right now prom season is in full swing and while teenagers are worried about what they're going to wear, a lot of parents are concerned about what they might consume, namely alcohol.
FOX 47's Cryss Walker shows us how some students are trying to keep prom season safe by keeping booze out of the wrong hands.
Oh the joys of prom!
It's a night that many teens wait for, to get all dressed up and dance the night away ---
Along with precious memories prom night also raises concerns for under-age drinking.
Students from Middle School at Parkside in Jackson are working to help teens stop and think, before they drink.
Signs are posted inside liquor stores all across Jackson County with a message for both teens and adults.
It reads, “If they can't buy it, don't supply it.”
The signs are meant to raise awareness for adults to not buy alcohol for minors this prom season.
According to the Michigan Profile for Healthy Youth Survey, 57% of Jackson County teens say alcohol is easy for them to get and 39% say they get alcohol because someone gives it to them.
AAA reports 39% of teens say they or their friends are likely to do drugs or drink alcohol during prom and graduation season.
