A phone scam FOX 47 reported last month in Hillsdale Countyis now turning up in a different county.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says deputies have received several complaints of suspicious calls from people claiming to be representatives from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.

The caller claims you have a warrant out for your arrest and you need to meet them and pay a bond.

Similar versions of this scam has callers telling victim's to purchase a cash card and provide information that allows the person committing the fraud to access the cash.

"The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office will not call and ask you for money. If you receive any of these calls please don’t give money or meet anyone claiming to represent the Sheriff’s Office," sheriff's officials said in a news release.

"Bonds are typically arranged at one of two jail facilities and are normally facilitated by a reputable bonding company," the release added.

Anyone who believes they have been targeted by this scam may contact Jackson County Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Bryan Huttenlocker at 517-768-7931.
