SHIAWASSEE COUNTY, Mich. — FOX 47 has new information on the investigation into the shooting of a Saginaw Township Police Officer.

Police say the man accused of shooting Officer Jeff Koenig in the face and arm, 29-year-old Joshua Rosebush, may have had help during the time he was on the run from police. Police say after Rosebush allegedly shot Officer Koenig, he led police on a chase for twelve hours through three different Michigan counties and more than 100 miles.

After driving away from the shooting scene, police say Rosebush stole a construction truck in Kochville Township, drove the truck to Flint and left it in a Home Depot parking lot. That’s when police say Rosebush hopped into another car with a friend or stranger near the Home Depot.

The driver then dropped Rosebush off and it is not clear if the driver knew Rosebush was wanted.

From there police say Rosebush stole a van at a gas station and drove it for almost half an hour before a Shiawassee County Sheriff Detective caught up with him.

Police say Rosebush then got out his gun but the Detective acted more quickly and shot Rosebush.

Rosebush was expected to be released from the hospital yesterday. He is being held on charges of being a parole absconder until he’s charged with crimes he’s accused of committing in the shooting of Officer Koenig.

Officer Koenig was scheduled to undergo surgery on his jaw the night of January 23 at the University of Michigan Hospital. Saginaw’s Police Chief Donald F. Pussehl, Jr. says Officer Koenig’s injuries are serious but he is resting comfortably.
