LANSING, Mich. — A new state law protects a marijuana derivative that doesn't have harmful effects.
The new law protects CBD oil, which is derived from hemp, by reclassifying it as hemp instead of marijuana.
Many people use CBD oil to treat pain, anxiety, depression and seizures.
This reclassification makes the oil available to anyone, instead of just people with medical marijuana cards.
The bill was championed by state Rep. Steve Johnson from West Michigan.
