SUMMIT TWNP, MI (WSYM) - A Jackson County man is dead following a home fire in Summit Township.
Police and fire crews were called to the 100 block of Carolyn Avenue at 5:11 a.m. Sunday on reports that someone was still trapped inside.
A sheriff deputy made an attempted to get into the building but was unable because of extreme heat and smoke.
Fire crews arrived and were able to rescue a 66-year-old man from the fire.
The man was taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Health in critical condition but later died.
The cause of the fire is currently undetermined and is being investigated by the Michigan State Police Fire Investigation Unit.
