An 89-year-old Army Airborne Veteran, who is now living at the Ovid Healthcare Center, was honored Monday by two members of the United States congress.
Congressman John Moolenar and Congressman Dan Kildee presented Burgess Loar with various medals and ribbons.
He received on Monday - the Purple Heart, Army of Occupation Medal with Japan Clasp, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with 1 BSS, United Nations Service Medal, Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle bar, and the Parachutist Badge.
A flag brigade kicked off the presentation in honoring this local war hero.
