Growing up in the small town of Portland, MI, Shelby Ann-Marie was known as the little girl with a big voice. That big voice landed her a spot in Hollywood Week of American Idol Season 13 at the young age of only fifteen. Soon to follow was an opportunity to open for National Country Artists Craig Morgan and Chase Rice at Fifth Third Ballpark in Comstock Park, MI in August of 2014 on what also happen to be her first day of her senior year of high school. "Performing at Fifth Third Ballpark was a dream come true. Ever since I was a little girl I had dreamt about that stage. From the moment I walked out, I could feel the energy." Shelby continues, "It's funny because the stage is the one place I feel free, where I feel like I belong. I could not thank God enough for allowing me to live out my dream and share my passion with every person that filled that stadium."
Connecting with people through music is what Shelby not only strives for, but what helps drive her to create the kind of music that can make a difference. "Songwriting is a way for me to express myself in a way that I couldn't otherwise do. It helps me to reflect and grow from my past. I hope that through my songwriting, I can give others a voice for their own lives."
Shelby has gone on to open for The Band Perry, Trace Adkins, Parmalee, Kane Brown, Clint Black, Collin Raye, and more. She has also garnered a lot of attention from local media including appearances on eightWest (WOTV-ABC), WXMI-Fox 17, inclusion in The Grand Rapids Press, Lansing State Journal and many more.
The future is bright for this 20-year-old singer/songwriter who is making strides to put her mark on the music industry. Through her faith, family, and community support, Shelby is working towards the music career she has always dreamed of and the impact that she can have on those around her.
