LANSING, Mich. — LCC is set to host its 2019 Aviation Technology program graduation, 6 p.m. Thursday, August 1, at the Aviation Technology Center located at 661 Aviation Drive in Mason, Michigan.
Andy Richards, chief operating officer at Duncan Aviation in Battle Creek, Michigan will be the graduation speaker.
This year’s class has 28 graduates who will now have careers in the lucrative field of aviation maintenance technology. All of the students have a contingent job offer, and some are fielding as many as five different job offers. Many of the students will stay in Michigan, but some have accepted positions in other states. There are three siblings graduating together, three female students, one student who will become a new dad any day, three students that received scholarships from the Michigan Business Aviation Association, and several students that received tuition scholarships.
“Our graduates are experiencing unprecedented employment opportunities in the aviation maintenance career field,” said Mark Bathurst, director of LCC’s Aviation Maintenance Technology program. “The demand for highly skilled, technically competent technicians has never been stronger. Employers from all across the country are contacting us, asking when our students are graduating and when those employers can come to our facility to talk to our students.” Bathurst continued, “Starting salaries are now ranging from the mid $40,000 to the mid $60,000 range, and coupled with significant sign-on bonuses, substantial relocation packages and other desirable benefits, our graduates have a multitude of outstanding employment choices.”
It was July 2017, when Delta Air Lines announced it had chosen LCC as one of 43 Aircraft Maintenance schools to be part of a new partnership established by the airline. Delta Air Lines selected LCC based on over 100 criteria including equipment and facilities, level of hands-on-training, and quality of teaching. This partnership has continued to broaden access for LCC graduates to become the next generation of aviation maintenance technology professionals.
