Law enforcement officers from across Mid-Michigan came together Monday to have a conversation about race and policing.
The Michigan State University Police Department held it's annual "Strengthening Relationships Between Law Enforcement and the Community" event at the Kellogg Center. Organizers say the forum addresses things people may not learn in school.
Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor of MSUPD said, "Everyone has an idea of why people of color may behave the way they do. But that the community also can learn why police officers do the things they do as officers. Its an exchange, its a dialogue of information so that everyone can become comfortable with each other."
Officers from Lansing, East Lansing, Jackson and the Department of Natural Resources took part in the event.
