LANSING, Mich. — Organizers for the Jackson Hot Air Jubilee are hoping to get the balloons off the ground Friday night despite the heat.

The balloons have been grounded Thursday night and Friday morning at Ella Sharp Park because of the weather.

"There's a lot of factors that go into it. As far as weather wise we're looking at wind speeds on the ground both for current and whats forecast to be within the flight window, hour to two hours out," Al Smith, balloon meister, said. "Heat limits the amount of lift that the balloon gets. So the hotter it is the less weight capacity we have for carrying. So that kind of puts a limit on what we can do as well."

Those attending the annual Jackson Hot Air Jubilee will have to worry about ongoing construction in the area as well.
