LANSING, Mich. — There are 708 active COVID cases in Ingham County, according to county health officials, including more than 100 new cases over the past 8 days.

Seven more people have died of the disease over the same period.

Throughout the pandemic, Lansing has seen over thirteen thousand cases and over two hundred coronavirus deaths.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced Tuesday the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services granted her request to give the state one hundred thousand doses of the coronavirus vaccine that was being held back by the Trump administration.

Whitmer signed the request for more doses alongside eight other governors.

Even with the vaccine being made available, health officials and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are still asking that you practice preventative measures. They’re reminding everyone to mask up, wash your hands, and socially distance.
