FOX Sports Detroit today announced it will launch the first-ever Football Toss Across Michigan – a series of events spanning from Lake Huron to Lake Michigan – beginning on November 11. The network’s Football Toss Across Michigan will travel around the state in a specially designed Football Week in Michigan bus making stops at local high school pep rallies and hosting mini-tailgates at Kroger stores. The Football Toss Across Michigan will also feature a series of community-driven stops to deliver hundreds of bags filled with groceries to food pantries across the state.
The announcement is connected to FOX Sports Detroit’s launch of Football Week in Michigan, a landmark initiative highlighting high school championship games, as well as college and professional gridiron action over an eight-day span. Football Week in Michigan is presented by Kroger.
Local dignitaries, celebrities and avid fans are expected to participate in the Football Toss Across Michigan festivities and join the Football Week in Michigan bus in Detroit, Flint, Saginaw, Bay City, Grand Rapids, Traverse City and Lansing. Fans who would like to take part in the festivities in the above cities can visit www.foxsportsdetroit.com for a complete schedule of stops.
“I’m so proud that we could rally an awesome collection of football teams, organizations and football-loving television stations to celebrate Football Week in Michigan,” said Greg Hammaren, senior vice president and general manager of FOX Sports Detroit. “It’s more than just a week of football. With the added excitement and exposure of the Football Toss Across Michigan, we are able to team up with Kroger to utilize this incredible platform to fight hunger in our great state.”
“Providing food for Michigan residents is what Kroger does every day,” said Rachel Hurst, corporate affairs manager for The Kroger Co. of Michigan. “On November 11, we’ll be packing hundreds of grocery bags with volunteers and delivering these bags to food pantries across the state from the FOX Sports Football Week in Michigan bus.”
Annually, Kroger donates over 2.1 million meals through Michigan food banks, food rescue organizations and other groups.
