JACKSON, Mich. — Police are investigating after a car drove into a pond in Jackson.

Neighbors say a woman drove her Buick Regal into a pond in front of a house on the convergence of Rives Eaton Road and Lansing Ave in Jackson around 5 a.m. Saturday night.

The driver, a young woman, is out of the car and alive. Neighbors believe she was driving alone.

Michigan State Police officials were seen investigating the scene Sunday afternoon. No one from state police was available for comment.

Crews plan to pull the car out of the pond on Monday.

Neighbors say it is common for drivers to speed in the area and that this is not the first car to veer off the road in that location.
