The superintendent of Charlotte Public Schools, Mark Rosekrans, and Charlotte Police Chief, Lisa Sherman issued a joint statement regarding an incident at the district's high school on Thursday, April 13, 2017.
Charlotte High School went into a lockdown this afternoon after the school received a report of a student with a weapon.
The school was put into a full lockdown at around 12:40 p.m. The school notified police who immediately responded to the high school. The school reports that a student was apprehended around 1:07 p.m., and was taken into custody by the Charlotte Police Department.
The school says that Charlotte Police have reported that no weapon has been found yet. All students are safe, and there were no injuries associated with this incident.
The other schools in the district were also placed on lockdown as a precaution; all students in the other district schools are reported safe as well. School will dismiss at the usual time at all buildings.
