It's been a big year for Detroit' Most Wanted – our partnership with the U.S. Marshals – resulting in the capture of some of metro Detroit's most dangerous criminals. But there are still three men who top the list, and they're Detroit's Most Wanted heading into the New Year.
"Over the past year 2018 the partnership with the Detroit Fugitive apprehension team and WXYZ have resulted in dozens of arrests, dozens of violent fugitive where else we couldn’t find alone, we needed help, we needed resources," said Deputy U.S. Marshal Aaron Garcia, DFAT supervisor.
Week after week this partnership between the U.S. Marshals, WXYZ and the public resulted in locating and arresting the most dangerous people in our community.
"Detroit’s Most Wanted is working, people are noticing, people wanna clean up their community, they’re noticing, they’re calling in, we get dozens of tips on the airing every weekend," Garcia said.
Still, three men remain at large and once again we're teaming up with the Marshals and asking for the public's help.
"Lynell Kirby, this guy is a killer," Garcia said.
He's topping the most wanted list heading into 2019 after killing a young woman and shooting her niece.
"We need the viewers to really buckle down and help us out," Garcia said.
Lynell Kirby goes by "Nell". He's 5 foot 8 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds.
Next up is Frederick Gordon.
"This guy's been at the top of our list for years, we have not been able to find him. We know he’s still out there, we know he’s frequenting the Detroit area – this guys wanted for homicide years ago – we need him behind bars," Gaarcia said.
Gordon is 41 years old. He's 5 foot 9 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds and is believed to be armed and dangerous on the east side of Detroit.
Next, a fugitive who has made it clear he won't be taken alive.
"Derrick Bell, this federal case goes on and on and on. This guy has money, he’s violent, he runs, he’s a head organizer of a sex prostitution ring which young girls are in jeopardy. No only that, he’s using opioids, heroin to play a factor, to influence people, to harm people, to get them hooked on this stuff to commit those sex acts," Garcia said.
Bell is 5 foot 9 inches tall and weighs 195 pounds and police stress he is armed and dangerous. If you see Bell, do not approach him and call 911 immediately.
"We still have these three heinous violent fugitives. 10:24:26 We need to find these three, these are still at the top of our charts for 2018," Garcia said. "The partnership has been great we’ve arrested dozens and dozens of violent fugitives, but we can’t stop here."
