LANSING, Mich. — For the first time, anyone living or working in Lansing will be able to file their individual income tax returns online.

The e-filing system will launch by the spring, Mayor Andy Schor said during his State of the City address Wednesday night.

Schor also announced a new service that will allow residents to reach the City of Lansing directly by dialing 3-1-1.

"One Call to City Hall" will be a hotline for non-emergency calls about any city service.

"It is an answering center, staffed by real people, right here in Lansing who will be equipped to handle almost any problem, question, or complaint that residents may have,” Schor said.

Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo already have similar 3-1-1 systems and Schor says implementing one in Lansing could save the city thousands of dollars.
