If you're looking for a place to visit before summer ends then why not try something a little different? Jared Cotter has the top three hidden gems across America your family will love.
1. Neon Boneyard in Las Vegas, Nevada
Most of us know the flashing lights of Las Vegas, but if you look just beyond those, you'll see our first stop. It's like a graveyard for neon dating back to the 1950s. A lot of the properties didn't own their signs. They were owned by the sign companies so if they rebranded, or took a sign down, the sign company would come and take it down and put it in their storage yard which they called The Boneyard.
2. Estes Park in Colorado
This is known as the base camp for Rocky Mountain National Park and it's an oasis of biking, hiking, fishing and adventure. The town is already prepping for the Fall Elk Fest!
3. Bonne Terre Mine in Terre, Missouri
It is the world's largest man-made lake that has been developed to scuba dive. It's the only one of its kind. The mine was the world's largest producer of lead ore. It closed in 1962, but now it's open year-round for those adventurous enough to take the plunge.
4. St. Julian Winery in Pier, Michigan
This winery is the oldest, largest and most awarded winery in the state of Michigan. Who knew? Michigan is the fourth-largest grape-growing state and the fifth in wine production. For vino lovers St. Julian is a must. You can tour the winery for free and taste wines created with 95 plus years of experience.
5. Dry Tortugas National Park in Florida
Last up is an amazing spot just 70 miles west of Key West. It’s the most remote national park and it's a great place to camp. You can even go snorkeling here. Now that is awesome fun for the entire family!
