The 100th Detroit Hydrofest kicks off Friday on the Detroit Riverfront. Kacie Hollins got a preview of the event she won't soon forget.
Kacie, along with other members of the media, were taken in out on the water in inflatable thunderboats. They reached speeds of about 50 mph. That is still 20 mph less than what the professionals will do in the same boats this weekend.
Afterwards, Kacie got to break down her experience with H1 Unlimited driver Tom Thompson. Thompson admitted the inflatable boat rides can be a lot bouncier than they look, but it's nothing compared to what he feels when he's racing. The boat he drives reaches speeds of 200 mph!
