It's called rival week, the week before the Michigan vs. Michigan State football game.
The cross-state rivalry goes back generations and has many traditions.

One of those, is playing for the Paul Bunyan Trophy. This Saturday, on October 7, these two titans of college football will clash under the lights of The Big House in Ann Arbor to battle it out for the trophy in this U of M v. MSU game presented by Pure Michigan.

“While we may be cheering for different teams we are all united in a tradition that speaks to the iconic events and state pride that embody the Pure Michigan experience,” said Jeff Mason, CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. “Whether you Bleed Maize and Blue or Sparty On, we are all Pure Michigan. We are proud to partner with UofM and MSU to celebrate one of the great fall traditions in our state.”

Get social this weekend by showing your team spirit on Twitter. Starting Friday, Pure Michigan is giving away a chance to win a team football signed by Coach Dantonio and Coach Harbaugh, respectively.

To enter, fans simply tweet a photo of their scenic route to the game – whether they are going to Ann Arbor or just up the street. On the tweet use the hashtag #PureMichiganScenicRoute and either #VoteGoGreen or #VoteGoBlue for your team pick.

All tweets must include the #PureMichiganScenicRoute hashtag and one of the two team hashtags to be eligible. Fans will be able to visit michigan.org/contest to see real-time results of the head to head Twitter match-up.

One fan will be chosen at random for each of the two team hashtags to win the signed footballs.
