Dozens of people gathered in Lansing Tuesday calling on Governor Rick Snyder to protect funding for food assistance programs.
The Rally To Support Safety Net Programs was in response to the Trump administration's proposed budget cuts to the SNAP program, which helps low income families buy healthy food.
Organizers are also asking the governor to remove restrictions from the programs that thousands of families rely on.
The rally was organized by The Michigan Safety Net Coalition.
The group plans on delivering a letter to Governor Snyder asking him to take action and protect the SNAP program.
