One person has died after a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 96 in Delta Township just before the Saginaw Highway exit. The crash happened on I-96 around 7:30 a.m. on I-96 between St. Joe Highway and Eastbound I-496.
The Eaton County Sheriff's Office says a driver in an SUV headed westbound on the highway, lost control of the vehicle and crossed the median, hitting an eastbound SUV before flipping over.
A passenger in the westbound SUV died.
Both drivers suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to a local hospital.
I-96 Eastbound is closed while crews clean up the scene. One westbound lane is now open. Drivers should avoid east and westbound I-96 from the west side of Lansing to Eaton Highway for now.
