Former U.S. Rep. Kerry Bentivolio of Michigan may run for his old congressional seat.
Bentivolio, a Republican, represented the GOP-leaning 11th District in suburban Detroit for one term in 2013-14. He lost in the primary to Republican Dave Trott, who is retiring after two terms.
Bentivolio announced an exploratory committee Monday and sounds as if he will run. He touts his conservative record in Congress and says he is "ready to fight."
The former reindeer farmer, teacher and auto designer won the seat in 2012 after the Republican incumbent, Thad McCotter, was shockingly knocked off the ballot due to fraudulent petition signatures.
Republican candidates vying to succeed Trott include businesswoman Lena Epstein, state Rep. Klint Kesto and former state lawmakers Kurt Heise and Rocky Raczkowski. Three Democrats also are running.
