Police say speed, not icy roads, caused a five car accident that ended inside an Arby's restaurant in Jackson County's Blackman Township.

The crash happened just before 11:30 Tuesday morning at the intersection of East Michigan Avenue and Dettman Road.

Police say a man driving east on Michigan, ran a red light, hit a mail truck and another car in the intersection, then rammed into the restaurant.

Arby's Area Manager Danielle Harrington said, "We heard a noise, somebody thought it was in the back, and then we realized it came from up front. We just heard a big explosion, and there was our lobby exploded and a truck out front."

One family was eating in the restaurant at the time. They were not injured.

In the chain reaction crash, the mail truck and the other car also hit two vehicles, and the bumper of one of the cars flew off, hitting a pedestrian.

The 21 year-old driver of the mail truck, and the pedestrian were treated for minor injuries.

The man who ran the red light was given a ticket for reckless driving.
