ZooLights opens Friday with Lion King drawing

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and it’s happening at the zoo! ZooLights returns to Binder Park Zoo on Friday, December 15th and runs every evening from 5-8:30 pm through Saturday, December 23. The zoo is transformed into a winter wonderland with brilliant light displays, festive décor and holiday tree lane. Celebrate the season with a merry stroll through the zoo to visit winter hardy animals on exhibit, ride the carousel and enjoy featured events each evening.

To mark the recent opening of the African Lion exhibit at the zoo and the upcoming Southwest Michigan premiere of Disney’s The Lion King, ZooLights- goers can enter to win a family four pack to see Disney’s The Lion King at Miller Auditorium on April 4, 2018, a family four pack for a one-time visit to Binder Park Zoo anytime during the 2018 season, and a pair of plush lions – a $500 value. Entry forms can be obtained at the gate with paid admission to ZooLights, and entry boxes will be located at the Safari Gift Shop and the Binda Conservation Carousel.  One winner will be drawn at random on December 23. You must be age 18 or older to enter. 

Admission to ZooLights is $5 per person for zoo members and $6 per person for the general public and will be sold at the gate.  Children under the age of two enter for free.

Featured events every evening at ZooLights include scheduled zookeeper chats at animal exhibits and fascinating animal presentations in the Adventure Station.  Thaw your paws with hot cocoa, sweet treats or a quick meal for purchase at Beulah’s Restaurant each night.  Cheerful sounds of caroling from Kalamazoo SoundBuilders  A Capella will fill the air on the 16th and 23rd and  Pro DJ will be spinning tunes at the DJ Dance Party & Ugly Sweater Contest on December 21st where prizes will be awarded to the top three ugliest holiday sweaters!

Write and mail a letter to Santa Claus, create a holiday craft or have your photo professionally snapped with the jolly old elf himself by Melissa’s Images - $5 per 5x7. And don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy Dinner with Santa on December 15-17 and 22-23 from 5:00-6:30. The cost is $15 per child/$20 per adult and includes admission to ZooLights.  Children under the age of two enter and dine for free. Space is limited and reservations are required!
