The ultimate night out is called Sunset on Savanna and it happens at Binder Park Zoo on Friday, August 31st from 5:00-10:00pm. It’s an exclusive zoo experience where guests enjoy a special menu of African-inspired small plates, wine and beer selections and live musical entertainment amidst the exotic ambience of Wild Africa.

The zoo closes to the public at 4:00pm that day to make way for event guests to enjoy exclusive access to the east zoo animal exhibits and complimentary carousel rides.  Then it’s time to board the Wilderness Tram with a glass of bubbly in hand where the destination is Wild Africa! Here, an unforgettable evening unfolds as guests arrive to sunset views of zebra, giraffe, bontebok and gazelle on the savanna.  Wander up the African trail to the first refreshment stop at Twiga Overlook and then continue on to arrive at the plaza of the lion and painted dog exhibits for the second stop of refreshments plus appetizers and the acoustic tunes of Abbey Rose & Co. Is it true that music soothes the savage beast? At 7:30 the party moves back to the village where the complete menu and desserts will be served, a cash bar is available and an evening of musical entertainment provides the atmosphere to this rare opportunity for grown-up fun at the zoo.

But, there’s more!  For an additional premium, a limited number of guests can extend the experience and spend the night in one of the eight tented camps located at the edge of the African savanna!   Overnight guests will enjoy a stay in their own authentic tent that includes a basket of specially selected amenities. Awaken in the morning to coffee service at your tent and breakfast served on the deck of Zamani School as you watch the animals descend upon the savanna.

Sunset on Savanna is a special fund-raising event that provides support to Binder Park Zoo and takes place, rain or shine, on Friday, August 31st from 5:00-10:00pm. Guests must arrive through the gate by 7pm to take the last tram to Wild Africa. Admission for a couple is $100 and a single admission is $60.  Admission includes four drink vouchers and a souvenir tasting glass, all food, entertainment and transportation between the continents. The African Overnight experience is $500 per tent and is available on a limited basis.  Guests must be age 21 with valid ID. Tickets are non-refundable.
