Potter Park Zoo in partnership with FOX 47 News, MSUFCU, Lansing Community College, and Capitol Steel and Wire, celebrated the groundbreaking of the new arctic fox exhibit on Wednesday, June 28.

A zoo is a place where memories can be made and shared among one another for generations.

When Robert Proctor, Trustee of Lansing Community College was asked about his fond memories made at the Potter Park Zoo he replied with a smile and said, " I remember rowing here with my wife one time, and then we have gone through the zoo. My son has been here several times, and my son is seventy years old believe it or not!"

Creating and keeping alive the community involvement here in Lansing is something that was very important to all of those involved in making this exhibit possible and fueled the initiative to start the project.
The new arctic fox exhibit will be nearly doubled in size from its current state and is expected to be completed very soon!

We spoke with Amy Morris, the Director of the Potter Park Zoo about other new additions coming to the zoo soon, " We have had a lot of the growth this year, so we have already added quite a few new faces. We have a new group of kangaroo, 7 kangaroo, that joined our other kangaroo that was an existing resident, we have a new black rhino that came to us from Texas, his name is Phineas, and we are also expecting an anteater to come very soon!"

There are lots of exciting things happening at the Potter Park Zoo this summer!
