Binder Park Zoo to close season with Food Drive

Posted

Binder Park Zoo will wrap the 2017 season on Sunday, October 8th with a food drive to benefit the Food Bank of South Central Michigan.Visitors to the zoo who bring a donated food item will receive $1.00 off admission that day.   The Food Bank has a “wish list” of canned fruit and vegetables, canned meats, complete canned meals (like beef stew, ravioli), pasta, rice, dry beans, soup and peanut butter.  Guests may donate more than one item if they wish, but the maximum discount is $1.00 per person.

One can, can make a difference! Last year the Food Bank of South Central Michigan served 189,300 people. All donations collected on October 8th at Binder Park Zoo will be distributed throughout the south-central counties of Michigan: Barry, Branch, Calhoun, Hillsdale, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Lenawee and St. Joseph.

Binder Park Zoo invites the public to enjoy the zoo for the final day of the season and show support for the community at the same time, the donation of just one item can make a positive impact for those who will be in need this winter.

Binder Park Zoo’s hours are 11:00 am-6:00 pm on Sunday, October 8th. General admission rates are $14 – adults, $13 – seniors, $12 – children ages 2-10, children under two years old – free.  Parking is free. Come out and ride the train and carousel, feed the giraffe, see the new lion exhibit or visit your favorite animal one more time before the season ends. Upcoming special events later in the month at the zoo include Bonteboktoberfest on October 14 and the 30th anniversary of ZooBoo October 19-29. For more details, visit www.binderparkzoo.org.
