Report: Schools meeting nutrition standards

Posted

School cafeterias have a reputation for serving foods high in fat, sugar and sodium. But many schools are successfully meeting the latest nutrition standards.

A new report shows 90-percent of cafeteria directors had adopted at least on practice to increase the amount of fruits and vegetables kids eat, like adding salad bars.

While student taste tests helped reduce the amount of food waste, only 44-percent of programs used this strategy.
