People who suffer from cluster headaches could get some relief from a handheld nerve simulator.
The gamma-core device was approved on Tuesday by the FDA. It transmits a mild electrical stimulation to the vagus nerve, which runs all the way from the brain to the colon.
The treatment helped about a quarter of cluster headache patients who tried it, compared to 15-percent of those who were given a placebo treatment.
Fewer than 1-percent of Americans have cluster headaches, but the condition is difficult to treat.
