New York City's ban on trans fats in restaurants may be working.

That's according to a new study from Yale University.

There has been a larger drop in hospitalizations for heart attack and stroke in areas that restrict the use of trans fatty acids.

Trans fats or partially hydrogenated oils have been shown to increase the risk of heart disease.

The FDA plans a nationwide restriction on trans fatty acids in 2018.
