Improve your diet with these simple steps

It's National Healthy Eating day and there is a push from health experts to make some simple diet changes, especially for people in Michigan.

Michigan is the second heaviest state in the mid-west. We spend over $3 billion every year on medical issues directly linked to obesity.

But the American Heart Association says developing healthy eating habits doesn't have to be difficult.

  • Try to lower the amount of sodium and sugar you eat everyday and get three to five servings of fruit and vegetables.

  • For parents, sub out that bag of chips in your child's lunch for an apple, carrots or whatever the child likes.

It is all apart of the American Health Association's mission to fight childhood obesity.
