Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital announces the promotion of three of its senior leaders to new positions.
Tammy Merritt, previously the director of physician practices, specialty clinics and urgent care, is now the executive director of physician services. In her newly expanded role, Merritt will have broad responsibility for the overall management and development of HGB’s physician services, including the administration of the physician practices, specialty clinics and urgent care.
Merritt has worked at HGB for 18 years. Previously she was the physician practice manager at Michigan Capital Medical Center. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Baker College with a Bachelor of Science degree in health service administration.
Patrick Sustrich, MS, previously the vice president of health and wellness, is now the chief integration officer. He will retain his position as executive director of AL!VE. As the CIO, Sustrich will provide vision, direction, strategic planning and coordination of assigned operational and clinical departments and services. He will create an integrated delivery system for health services, as well as provide leadership to ensure the ongoing achievement of HGB’s philosophy, mission, vision and values.
Sustrich began working at HGB in 2009 as the director of health and wellness. Prior to HGB and AL!VE, he had opened and managed two fitness and rehabilitation facilities: the Kelsey Community Wellness Center in Lakeview, Mich., and the University Club of Michigan in Lansing. He received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in exercise physiology from Northern Michigan University.
Jennifer Bucienski, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, previously the vice president of human resources, is now the chief experience officer. As CXO, Bucienski is responsible for enhancing and continually improving the overall experience of employees, patients and families. She will provide leadership, direction and oversite of HGB’s human resources and development functions, as well as serve as the compliance officer.
“The best description of the CXO role came from Cleveland Clinic’s Chief of Staff, Dr. Joseph Hahn, who stated that ‘delivering high quality health care requires not only skilled medical expertise, but an environment that promotes compassion, empathy and a positive experience,’” Bucienski said.
Bucienski started working at HGB in 2007 as director of human resources. She has more than 20 years of human resources experience; many of those years in a health care environment. She earned her bachelor’s degree in management and organizational development from Spring Arbor College.
“These moves reflect the growth of our team members as well as the natural progression of their responsibilities,” said Matt Rush, HGB president and CEO. “The new positions are also representative of how health care and patient expectations are changing, and will help us address the opportunities and challenges that lay ahead of us as a health care provider and catalyst for health innovation in Eaton County.”
