If you're one of thousands without power there are important food safety tips to keep in mind. You're advised to eat food from the refrigerator first.
It usually last up to 4-hours after the power goes out.
Keep your refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible.
A full freezer can keep the cold temperature for up to two days if the door remains closed.
If you have meat, poultry, eggs or fish throw it away if it's been exposed to 40-degree temperatures for two hours or more.
And you can also load a cooler full of ice to help save some of your food.
